1. Introduction

Agape Calm (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Agape Calm mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Information We Collect

a. Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the profile information you authorize those services to share.

b. User-Generated Content

Journal entries are encrypted on your device before storage. Prayers, mood entries, gratitude notes, and fasting logs are stored locally on your device using SQLite and AsyncStorage. We do not have access to the plaintext content of your journal entries.

c. AI Prayer Companion

When you use the AI Prayer Companion, your messages are sent through our secure Firebase Cloud Function proxy to OpenAI for processing. Conversations are stored locally on your device. We do not store or log the content of your AI conversations on our servers. OpenAI’s data usage policies apply to messages processed through their API.

d. Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics to improve the App, including daily AI message counts (for rate limiting) and feature usage patterns. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

e. Audio Files

Meditation voice-overs and sleep sounds are streamed from Firebase Storage and cached locally on your device for offline use. We do not track which audio files you listen to.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the App’s functionality
• To authenticate your account and sync data across devices
• To process AI Prayer Companion requests securely
• To enforce usage limits and prevent abuse
• To improve the App based on anonymous usage patterns
• To send important service-related notifications

4. Data Storage and Security

Most of your personal data (journal entries, prayers, mood logs) is stored locally on your device. Journal entries are encrypted using AES encryption with keys stored in your device’s secure enclave (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).

Account authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication with industry-standard security practices. Our Firebase Cloud Functions use App Check to verify that requests come from genuine installations of the App.

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, Cloud Functions, Storage, Firestore, App Check
• OpenAI — AI Prayer Companion message processing (via server-side proxy)
• Expo / EAS — App building and over-the-air updates

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymized, aggregated data that cannot identify you for analytics and improvement purposes.

7. Your Rights

• Access: You can export all your data from Settings > Export Data
• Deletion: You can delete all your data from Settings > Clear All Data
• Account Deletion: You can request complete account deletion by contacting us at info@agapecalm.app
• Portability: Your exported data is provided in a standard JSON format

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the “Effective Date” above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
